Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour (18th Aug)
Scott Pilgrim has ended, and what a great ending. I’m glad it went down that route, and I’m glad I was lucky enough to meet the mind behind it.
I meet Bryan Lee O’Malley at Gosh! comics, London. He is a nice man. I did some fan art but I thought it was too much fan-boy over kill to give it to him. In other words I was too ‘un-confident’ (shy/drunk). This is the header image btw.
He signs books. We shake hands and my day is made. What a great series, I’m going to struggle to find a series worthy of filling the giant Scott Pilgrim shaped void in the ‘Comics Section’ of the brain in my heart. Next thing I know I’m walking through the frenzy around the Scott Pilgrim Première on my way to see Black Dynamite (which was hilarious go see)
Ultra Culture Cinema 4: Scott Pilgrim Night (25th Aug)
When I first heard Scott Pilgrim was getting the Hollywood treatment I was convinced there was no way it wouldn’t suck. Thankfully I was wrong. Thankfully it is amazing. Thankfully, all the right people were involved, and it’s a film where the creative team down to the cast clearly give a shit about the source material. An all too rare occurrence. I’m full of thank.
What a lovely event: Sonic Boss Themes, Purple Violets, Rockband Part Three, Coke Zero?, A Bar of very social cool people, Depressingly young/witty compere organiser bots.
This was the first and last time I will ever clap through a film’s credit sequence or boo loudly through those god awful anti piracy smug-verts (publicly)….And then of course: “Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr Edgar Wright!!!!” (room of gasp)
I set my camera to ‘Stalk Factor 10’ (which carries a ‘Useless Blurry Factor’ of around a zillion).
Thank you Ultra Culture. That’s Ultra Culture!
I got drunk and the film is truly AMAZING!! Ten thumbs up.
P.S. Have you played the game? how incredible is that! I mean…very!
